First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a low-dose norepinephrine infusion just before anesthesia can prevent low blood pressure during emergency surgery for a serious belly infection called peritonitis. About 60 adults with stable blood pressure after initial treatment will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo. The goal is to see if this approach reduces time spent with dangerously low blood pressure during the start of surgery.
