Common supplements could shield kidneys from surgery damage
NCT ID NCT06620523
Summary
This study is testing whether two over-the-counter supplements, CoQ10 and Glutathione, can prevent kidney injury in patients undergoing elective heart bypass surgery. About 242 participants will receive either the supplements or a placebo starting the day before surgery and continuing for up to a week. Researchers will measure if the treatment reduces the rate of acute kidney injury, a serious and common complication after this type of operation.
