Head-to-Head diabetes drug trial aims to stop heart attacks and kidney failure

NCT ID NCT05390892

Summary

This study aims to find out which of two common types of diabetes medication is better at preventing serious heart and kidney problems in people with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk. It will enroll 6,000 participants and randomly assign them to take either an SGLT2 inhibitor or a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Researchers will track which group has fewer heart attacks, strokes, hospitalizations for heart failure, kidney failure, or deaths over the course of the study.
