Bath time hack may slash baby food allergy risk
NCT ID NCT07489040
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a special package of bathing, skincare, and allergen exposure advice can prevent food allergies in infants at risk. Researchers will compare the package to usual care in 64 newborns. Parents will follow recommendations like delaying the first bath and avoiding harsh soaps and wipes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
multi-component environmental package (bathing and skincare routine, allergen exposure strategy)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost way to prevent food allergies in babies at risk.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early feasibility trial (64 infants) focused on adherence, not yet on allergy outcomes. The approach may not actually prevent allergies.
