Virtual Tai-Chi and medication tested to stop dangerous falls in liver patients
NCT ID NCT05794555
Summary
This study tested whether a combination of a medication (lactulose) and virtual Tai-Chi exercise classes could help prevent falls and other serious health problems in people with advanced liver disease (cirrhosis). 230 participants were randomly assigned to different sequences of these treatments over 24 weeks. The goal was to see if this approach reduced falls, hospitalizations for confusion, and the need for a liver transplant or risk of death.
