New study aims to reduce allergic reactions in stem cell therapy for multiple myeloma

NCT ID NCT07101445

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether methylprednisolone works better than dexamethasone at preventing allergic reactions to motixafortide, a drug used to help collect stem cells for transplant in multiple myeloma patients. About 94 adults with multiple myeloma will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two premedication drugs before motixafortide. The goal is to find which regimen causes fewer and less severe reactions, improving the safety of stem cell collection.
