First seen May 15, 2026 ยท Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether a powered alternating pressure air mattress can help prevent pressure ulcers (bedsores) in people at medium to high risk. 90 adults in nursing homes and long-term care who were in bed 15-20 hours a day used the mattress for 35 days. The main goal was to see how many developed a stage 2 or worse bedsore on their back, spine, or heel.
