NCT ID NCT05526053
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looked at two different methods for removing breathing tubes from patients on ventilators. The goal was to see if keeping the lungs more open during the process helps patients stay off the machine. Over 1,700 adults were randomly assigned to either the standard method or a new method that used gentle pressure and no suctioning. The researchers used ultrasound to check lung aeration.
