New study reveals hidden costs of preterm baby care on families

NCT ID NCT07192393

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study follows 90 families of very premature babies (born before 30 weeks) for one year after leaving the hospital. It looks at how the baby's health, especially if they had a serious bowel problem called NEC, affects the family's money, emotions, and daily life. Parents fill out questionnaires at discharge, 6 months, and 12 months to track these impacts. The goal is to help hospitals and policymakers understand the full burden on families and make better care decisions.
