First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a simple home exercise program done for at least three weeks before breast cancer surgery can help women recover better. 54 women with early-stage breast cancer will be randomly assigned to either the exercise program or usual care. Researchers will measure shoulder movement, arm function, pain, and quality of life for up to two years after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Home-based prehabilitation exercise program (aerobic, resistance, and stretching exercises)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could lead to a simple, low-cost way to help women recover better after breast cancer surgery, with less shoulder pain and disability.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 54 participants. The exercise program is home-based, so results may vary depending on how well participants follow it. It is not a treatment for cancer itself.
