Summary
This study tested a program called the Pregnant Moms' Empowerment Program (PMEP) for pregnant women who had experienced intimate partner violence in the past year. About 230 women took part in either the PMEP or a general support group during pregnancy. Researchers then checked the mothers' mental health, parenting skills, and their babies' development up to one year after birth. The goal was to see if the program could reduce stress, depression, and repeat violence while improving mother-child bonding.
