Lung transplant moms: does Baby's DNA raise rejection risk?
NCT ID NCT05689905
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether shared genetic markers (HLA) between a child and a lung donor increase the risk of organ rejection in mothers who had a lung transplant. Researchers collected DNA from children born to 11 transplant women in France between 2012 and 2021. The goal is to better understand pregnancy-related immune risks and improve future recommendations.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this research could help doctors give better advice to lung transplant women about pregnancy risks.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study (11 participants) that only looks back at past pregnancies. It cannot prove cause and effect, and findings may not apply to all patients.
