Ultrasound-Guided diuretics may speed blood pressure recovery after preeclampsia

NCT ID NCT07167862

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a quick, non-invasive bedside ultrasound (POCUS) to detect excess fluid in the lungs and veins can help doctors decide to give a diuretic (furosemide) to postpartum patients with preeclampsia. The goal is to see if this approach leads to faster blood pressure recovery, less need for blood pressure medication at discharge, and fewer hospital readmissions. About 96 participants will be enrolled, and the study compares outcomes to a historical group of similar patients who did not receive ultrasound-guided treatment.
