Brain zaps may predict depression relapse

NCT ID NCT05579015

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study looks at 170 people whose depression is in remission to see if a brain stimulation technique (TBS) combined with brain imaging (fNIRS) can predict when depression might return. Participants receive mild brain stimulation while their brain activity is measured. The goal is to find a way to forecast relapses, which could help doctors personalize treatment and prevent future episodes.
