New model aims to end guesswork in IBD biologic treatment
NCT ID NCT07181525
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a lifelong condition with no cure. Biologic drugs are a first-line treatment, but they fail in 30-50% of patients. This study will collect data from 200 IBD patients to build a predictive model using clinical features and machine learning. The goal is to create a tool that helps doctors choose the right biologic for each patient, improving outcomes and cutting unnecessary costs.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
biologic drugs (anti-cytokine and anti-integrin antibodies)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could give doctors a reliable tool to predict which biologic will work for each IBD patient, saving time and money.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage model-building study, not a treatment trial. The model may not be accurate enough for real-world use and needs further validation.
