Personalized heart care: biomarker score may cut heart risks
NCT ID NCT04755413
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether using a blood test score (based on four proteins linked to heart risk) can help doctors choose the best treatments for people with coronary artery disease. 276 adults with stable heart disease will either get standard care or a customized plan that includes lifestyle advice and medications like statins. The goal is to see if the personalized approach lowers these biomarker levels and reduces complications like heart attacks or hospitalizations.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Lifestyle advice, statins, ezetimibe, and other medications tailored to biomarker levels
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help doctors personalize heart disease treatment to reduce the risk of heart attacks and other complications.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage study focused on biomarker changes, not yet proven to prevent major heart events. The results may not apply to all patients.
