Blood test may guide stroke prevention in thousands

NCT ID NCT06853535

First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a platelet function blood test to choose anti-clotting medication can reduce the risk of another stroke in people who recently had a mild stroke or high-risk TIA. About 5,138 participants will either receive standard care or have their medication switched to ticagrelor if the test shows they don't respond well to clopidogrel. The main goal is to see if this personalized approach lowers the chance of a recurrent stroke within 90 days.
