Early jaw exercises may prevent lockjaw in cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06531083

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether closely watching jaw movement and starting physical therapy early can prevent or reduce trismus (jaw tightness) in people receiving radiation for head and neck cancer. Thirty adults will be checked weekly during treatment and given jaw exercises if their mouth opening decreases. The goal is to see if this approach is practical for a larger future study.
