First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested whether a weight-loss medication (phentermine/topiramate) can help shrink kidney stones and improve health in obese adults with uric acid stones and type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. Nineteen participants were randomly assigned to either the drug or standard care (citrate, allopurinol, diet) for 18 months. The main goal was to see if stone size changed, along with weight, urine pH, and blood sugar levels.
