Could a spoonful of potato starch clear brain fog from liver disease?
NCT ID NCT06425380
Summary
This small Mayo Clinic study is testing if a dietary supplement made from potato starch can help people with advanced liver disease (cirrhosis) who experience episodes of confusion, known as hepatic encephalopathy. Researchers want to see if the starch changes gut bacteria in a way that improves brain function and reduces digestive issues. Participants will take the supplement for four weeks while providing stool samples and completing simple memory tests.
