Can custom therapy help stroke survivors with everyday tasks?
NCT ID NCT05829421
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a specially designed occupational therapy program could help people with mild-to-moderate thinking problems after a stroke perform daily activities like dressing or cooking. Only 8 people took part, and the goal was to see if the therapy was practical to deliver and study, not whether it actually works. The therapy was personalized based on each person's specific cognitive difficulties.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
individualized occupational therapy adapted to cognitive impairments
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help stroke survivors manage daily tasks more independently.
What could go wrong
This is a very small feasibility study with only 8 participants. It cannot prove the therapy works, only that it might be possible to test it in a larger trial.
