Which postpartum exercise is best for pelvic floor health? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07313683
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will compare two exercise programs—lumbopelvic stabilization exercises and hypopressive exercises—in 84 women who had a vaginal delivery 6 to 12 weeks earlier. The goal is to see which approach is safer and more effective for improving pelvic floor recovery and helping women return to daily activities, work, and sports. Participants will attend weekly sessions over 8 weeks, and researchers will measure quality of life, sexual function, and other outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- exercise programs (lumbopelvic stabilization exercises or hypopressive exercises)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide clear guidance on which exercise approach is safer and more effective for postpartum pelvic floor recovery, helping women return to daily activities and sports with less risk of long-term pelvic floor disorders.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial (84 participants) comparing two exercise methods, so results may not apply to all women. The study hasn't started recruiting yet, and the benefits may be modest or not significantly different between groups.
