Can simple exercises reshape pelvic muscles? ultrasound study seeks answers

NCT ID NCT07004738

First seen Aug 06, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether pelvic floor exercises can change the thickness of the abdominal muscle and improve bladder emptying in women with pelvic floor disorders. Forty women aged 20 to 40 will be split into two groups: one doing the exercises and one not. Using ultrasound, researchers will measure muscle thickness and residual bladder volume before and after six weeks to see if the exercises make a measurable difference.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Pelvic floor exercises
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that pelvic floor exercises measurably improve muscle thickness and bladder control, supporting their use as a non-invasive treatment for pelvic floor disorders.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Ultrasound measurements may not fully capture functional improvements, and the exercises' effectiveness can vary by individual.
