NCT ID NCT05851560

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether applying oxidized regenerated cellulose and hyaluronic acid during thyroid surgery can prevent painful adhesions that often form after the procedure. 45 adults with benign goiter or thyroid cancer were enrolled. The goal was to see if these barriers reduce neck discomfort, swallowing problems, and skin sticking to the trachea.

Active substance

oxidized regenerated cellulose and hyaluronic acid

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide a safe way to reduce neck discomfort, swallowing difficulty, and skin sticking after thyroid surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 45 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The anti-adhesion effect is still uncertain.
