First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests a therapy called Positive Affect Therapy (PAT) to see if it can prevent depression in teenagers aged 12-16 who have experienced two or more difficult childhood events (like abuse or neglect). The therapy focuses on increasing positive emotions and reward sensitivity. Researchers will compare PAT to supportive talk therapy or a waitlist in 300 teens, measuring mood and inflammation over a year.
