First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study compares a minimally invasive procedure called POEM for treating achalasia, a swallowing disorder. It looks at two groups: patients receiving POEM as their first treatment and those who had a prior balloon dilation that failed. The goal is to see if prior balloon dilation affects the procedure's success and safety. Thirty-two adults will be followed for 6 months after POEM.
