New nerve stimulation may ease back pain without harming muscles

NCT ID NCT05952518

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two treatments for back pain caused by facet joints in the spine. The standard treatment, radiofrequency ablation, can damage nearby muscles. The new approach, peripheral nerve stimulation, may relieve pain without that side effect. Researchers will measure pain relief and muscle function in 70 adults aged 18 to 80.
