First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study compares two procedures—thoracentesis (draining fluid) and pleuroscopy (taking a tissue sample)—to see which one helps diagnose cancer in the chest faster. About 98 adults with suspected cancer-related fluid buildup will be randomly assigned to one procedure first. The goal is to find out which approach leads to a quicker diagnosis and faster start of cancer treatment.
