Blood-based gels battle diabetic foot ulcers in head-to-head trial
NCT ID NCT05979584
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested two treatments made from patients' own blood—platelet-rich plasma and platelet-fibrin plasma—to see which works better for healing diabetic foot ulcers. 56 adults with diabetes and slow-healing foot wounds were randomly assigned to receive one of the treatments plus standard care. The main goal was to compare how many wounds healed within 4 weeks.
