Life-Saving boost or risky move? major study probes blood platelet transfusions for critically ill sepsis patients

NCT ID NCT07230067

Summary

This study aims to find out if giving platelet transfusions to intensive care patients with sepsis and low platelet counts helps them survive or causes more harm. Researchers will look back at the medical records of 1,500 patients to see if those who received transfusions had better or worse 28-day survival rates. The goal is to provide clearer guidance for doctors on when, or if, to use this common treatment.
