Blood test may predict Alzheimer's years before symptoms worsen

NCT ID NCT01315639

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at whether measuring certain proteins (amyloid peptides) in the blood can help diagnose Alzheimer's disease or predict how fast it will progress. Researchers followed over 1,000 older adults, some with mild cognitive impairment and some with Alzheimer's, to see if blood levels of these proteins could tell who would develop Alzheimer's or decline more quickly. The goal is to find a simple, less invasive way to detect and track the disease.
