Mind over matter: placebo may cut opioid use in kids after spine surgery

NCT ID NCT06365892

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving children a placebo pill, along with their usual pain treatment, can reduce the amount of opioids they need after scoliosis surgery. About 64 teenagers will be split into two groups: one gets the placebo plus standard care, the other gets standard care alone. The goal is to see if the placebo group uses fewer opioids and feels better during recovery.
