First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study tests a needle-free device called PIVO Pro that draws blood through an existing IV line, aiming to reduce contamination and the need for extra needle sticks. About 1,148 adults in emergency departments will be randomly assigned to either the new device or the usual blood draw method. The main goal is to see if the device lowers the rate of false-positive results caused by skin germs.
