First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will test whether pelvic floor-focused clinical Pilates exercises can reduce pain, improve self-esteem, body image, and quality of life in women with dyspareunia (painful intercourse). Twenty sexually active women aged 18-55 will participate. The goal is to see if this gentle exercise approach can address both the physical and emotional sides of the condition.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Clinical Pilates exercises (pelvic floor-focused)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a safe, non-drug exercise option to reduce pain and improve emotional well-being for women with painful intercourse.

What could go wrong

This is a very small early study (20 people) with no control group, so results may not apply widely. Exercise may not help everyone, and some discomfort during sessions is possible.
