Heart attack study aims to predict which arteries will cause trouble later

NCT ID NCT06506448

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study looks at people who had a major heart attack (STEMI) and have other narrowed arteries that did not cause the attack. Doctors want to learn which of these other narrowings are likely to cause future problems, like another heart attack or chest pain. Using CT scans and blood tests for inflammation, the study will follow 320 patients for two years to see which narrowings lead to events. The goal is to find out which narrowings need a stent and which can be safely treated with medication alone.
