Could a short course of physiotherapy improve posture and ease pain after breast reduction?

NCT ID NCT07729735

First seen Jul 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 28, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether a three-week physiotherapy program, starting one week after breast reduction surgery, can reduce pain, improve posture, and boost quality of life. Forty women aged 18 to 50 who have had their first breast reduction will be split into two groups: one receives the physiotherapy program, the other does not. Researchers will measure pain, posture, shoulder and neck movement, and overall well-being before and after the program.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
a physiotherapy program including postural exercises, scapular stabilization, manual therapy, scar massage, and TENS
What this could lead to
If effective, early physiotherapy could become a standard part of recovery after breast reduction, helping women regain posture and comfort faster.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program is short (3 weeks), and long-term benefits are unknown.
