Can a phone call help you quit smoking? major study tests guided imagery

NCT ID NCT05277831

Summary

This study tested whether a telephone-delivered program using guided imagery could help people quit smoking more effectively than standard behavioral support. Over 1,200 daily smokers from three states received coaching calls and nicotine patches. The main goal was to see if the guided imagery approach led to more people being smoke-free after six months, verified by a breath test.
