Triple therapy aims to boost Cancer-Free survival after surgery for HER2-Positive stomach cancer
NCT ID NCT05504720
First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Aug 11, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This phase II trial tests whether adding pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and trastuzumab (Ontruzant) to standard FLOT chemotherapy, given before and after surgery, can improve outcomes for people with HER2-positive esophagogastric adenocarcinoma. Participants receive the drug combination for up to one year, followed by surgery. The study measures how many patients are cancer-free two years after starting treatment and how many have no tumor left at the time of surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- pembrolizumab, trastuzumab, and FLOT chemotherapy (docetaxel, oxaliplatin, folinic acid, fluorouracil)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could improve the chance of being cancer-free two years after surgery for people with HER2-positive esophagogastric cancer.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly. The combination of drugs can cause significant side effects, and the treatment may not work for everyone.
