Triple therapy aims to boost Cancer-Free survival after surgery for HER2-Positive stomach cancer
NCT ID NCT05504720
First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026
Summary
This phase II trial tests whether adding pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and trastuzumab (Ontruzant) to standard FLOT chemotherapy, given before and after surgery, can improve outcomes for people with HER2-positive esophagogastric adenocarcinoma. Participants receive the drug combination for up to one year, followed by surgery. The study measures how many patients are cancer-free two years after starting treatment and how many have no tumor left at the time of surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
pembrolizumab, trastuzumab, and FLOT chemotherapy (docetaxel, oxaliplatin, folinic acid, fluorouracil)
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could improve the chance of being cancer-free two years after surgery for people with HER2-positive esophagogastric cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly. The combination of drugs can cause significant side effects, and the treatment may not work for everyone.
