New imaging approach for cervical cancer brachytherapy shows promise
NCT ID NCT03315351
First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tested whether using a PET-scan at the start of brachytherapy (a type of internal radiation) is practical for treating locally advanced cervical cancer. Fourteen women who had already received chemo-radiation took part. The main goal was to see if the PET-scan could help doctors better define the tumor target for radiation planning. Results focused on feasibility, not cure or symptom relief.
