Can balance exercises heal a torn rotator cuff?
NCT ID NCT07482735
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding perturbation-based exercises (unexpected movements that challenge balance) to standard physiotherapy can improve pain, strength, and shoulder function in people with partial rotator cuff tears. Sixty adults aged 18–65 will be randomly assigned to either standard care or the new exercise program. Outcomes are measured after 10 days and again one month later.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a better rehabilitation approach for people with partial rotator cuff tears, improving shoulder function and reducing pain.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants and short follow-up. Results may not apply to everyone, and the added benefit over standard therapy may be small.
