Custom heart targets in surgery could save lives

NCT ID NCT05648279

Summary

This large international trial tested whether customizing a patient's blood flow target during major abdominal surgery reduces serious complications afterward. It involved over 1,100 high-risk patients aged 45 and older. The goal was to see if aiming for a patient's own pre-surgery heart performance level is better than using a standard one-size-fits-all target.
