First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study compares personalized surgery guided by a special camera during sleep (DISE) to standard tonsillectomy for treating obstructive sleep apnea in 303 children with Down syndrome, ages 2 to 17. Sleep apnea is very common in these children and standard surgery often fails. The goal is to see if a tailored approach improves breathing and quality of life more than the usual first-line treatment.
