New hope for better sleep: tailored surgery tested for kids with down syndrome

NCT ID NCT05508971

Summary

This study is testing if a personalized surgical approach works better than the standard surgery for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children with Down syndrome. Researchers will use a special sleep scope to see exactly where a child's airway is blocked and then plan a specific surgery for that child. They will compare this personalized approach to the standard tonsil and adenoid removal surgery in about 300 children to see which one improves breathing during sleep and quality of life more.
