First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 1 trial tests a personalized, accelerated radiation therapy for locally advanced lung cancer. The radiation dose is tailored to each patient's tumor size and location, aiming to deliver a higher dose in fewer sessions. The study will enroll 45 adults with non-small cell or small cell lung cancer who are also receiving chemotherapy. The main goal is to check for serious lung and esophagus side effects.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

hypofractionated accelerated radiation therapy

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a more effective and personalized radiation treatment for lung cancer, potentially improving tumor control while reducing side effects.

What could go wrong

This is an early phase 1 trial with only 45 participants, so safety and effectiveness are not yet proven. There is a risk of lung, esophageal, or heart side effects from the higher radiation dose.
