First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at whether having a palliative care team work alongside surgeons improves the well-being of patients with gastrointestinal cancers (like pancreatic or liver cancer) and their family members. About 379 patients and their companions took part. The goal was to see if this extra support leads to better quality of life and mood after surgery, compared to standard care with just the surgeon.
