Warming blankets before surgery may keep patients safer

NCT ID NCT04011462

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether warming patients before digestive surgery helps keep their body temperature normal. 105 adults having cancer surgery were divided into three groups: one with standard blankets, and two using a forced-air warming system for 20 or 30 minutes. The study also compared a new skin thermometer to standard ones to see which is better at detecting low temperature.
