Sugar trackers on trial: can CGM help during C-Sections?
NCT ID NCT07671599
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study will test whether continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) can accurately track blood sugar levels during scheduled C-sections in 150 women without diabetes. The goal is to understand normal glucose patterns during surgery and see if they relate to complications like wound infections. It is an early, exploratory study to gather data, not to test a new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Continuous Glucose Monitor (device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that continuous glucose monitors are useful for tracking blood sugar during C-sections, potentially improving care for nondiabetic patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early pilot study with only 150 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is exploratory and not designed to prove any treatment benefit.
