Could a routine dental cleaning hold clues to fighting deadly sepsis?

NCT ID NCT04565691

Summary

This study investigates how bacteria enter the bloodstream during dental cleaning for gum disease. Researchers are using this as a model to identify better blood markers for detecting bacterial infections that can lead to sepsis. They are also studying the long-term effects on heart health to understand the connection between gum disease and heart disease.
