Nerve block slashes painkiller need after hip surgery

NCT ID NCT07534137

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special nerve block (PENG block) given before partial hip replacement surgery could lower the amount of painkiller (tramadol) patients needed afterward. 48 adults aged 18-75 took part. Half got the block, half did not. Researchers measured pain scores and total tramadol use in the first 24 hours. The goal was to see if the block leads to better pain control and fewer side effects.
