Immunotherapy-Chemo cocktail shows promise for tough hodgkin lymphoma
NCT ID NCT03618550
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing whether adding the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab to standard GVD chemotherapy can improve outcomes for people with Hodgkin lymphoma that has returned or not responded to initial treatment. About 257 participants will receive up to 4 cycles of the combination before a stem cell transplant. The study is currently recruiting and will measure how many patients achieve a complete response and how long they remain cancer-free.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- pembrolizumab (an immunotherapy drug) plus GVD chemotherapy (gemcitabine, vinorelbine, liposomal doxorubicin)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a more effective way to shrink Hodgkin lymphoma before a stem cell transplant, potentially improving long-term control of the disease.
- What could go wrong
- This is a mid-stage trial, so results are not yet proven. The combination may cause significant side effects, and not all patients will respond. Long-term benefits are still uncertain.
